We enjoy talking with our customers and we want to make sure all of your questions get answered. We do send all of our boxes with signature required. We feel it is only good food practice to not leave anything you would be eating sitting out in the hot sun, pouring rain, or for the animals to get into, not to mention that someone might come along and help themselves to your dinner.

We use Fed Ex TM to ship live lobsters, fresh seafood and fresh fish right to your door or office. Delivery is available Tuesday - Friday and Saturday in some locations. Rates and delivery availability vary depending on your order and your location, so please call for details and an estimated cost.

In average weather conditions, the interior of the box generally stays cool for about 36 hours once packed. When shipping our lobsters we sandwich them between fresh seaweed* to create a more comfortable ride. Please be aware that there is no guarantee on the life of a lobster. No claims are paid on delays of freight due to circumstances beyond human control.

* During the winter months due to heavy surf and stormy conditions the harvesting of seaweed can be extremely dangerous and during these times seaweed may become unavailable. In the spring when seaweed is spawning is another time of the year when we cannot use seaweed to pack with.

What time will my shipment arrive?
Depending upon where you live most deliveries take place between 8:30 AM & Noon unless you live in a more remote area it could be as late as 4:30. When placing your order please ask for more information on your particular city of delivery.

Can I get my lobsters delivered on a Saturday?
For most people the answer is yes, however the more remote places don't have that service available to them. Fed-Ex does charge more for a Saturday delivery as well. If you don't live in an area that is in a Saturday zone you might be able to go to the Fed-Ex station and pick them up.

What if I can't be there to sign for my package?
We don't recommend this route as it is not good food practice; but if you can't be there Fed-Ex allows packages to be left at a location without someone being there to sign for it. If you need your package delivered in this manner, please understand however that if someone comes along see the box and takes it, you have no recourse with anyone. You also risk the elements ruining your food. You will need to ask for this option as all our boxes automatically go out with signature required.

Anyone answering the door at the delivery address can sign for the delivery as long as they are 18 years of age or older.

What if I want to cancel my order?
Order cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the shipping date. Please contact the shipping department at 1-800-370-1790 x 2.

How soon should I place my order?
We totally encourage advanced ordering. We can take orders days and weeks ahead of when they are going to be needed. This allows us to plan for product on hand and personnel to be available for packing our boxes. Since we deal with a perishable product we don't want to leave it out of refrigeration, or water, one minute longer then necessary. So knowing in advance what we are going to be doing is another step to ensure you get the very best, all the way around.

Do my Lobsters arrive alive?
We make no guarantees on the life of a lobster. However, our hearty hard shell lobsters do average 24 to 36 hours out of water. This is an average, not a guarantee. Please know that if a hard shell lobster dies you do have 12 hours in which you can still cook and eat as long as it has been kept refrigerated, which our boxes do, till you can get them into refrigeration. We enclose a shipment instruction sheet that will give you more information on how to determine if it has spoiled or not. It is very easy to figure out and it's rare that it is not eatable.

How are my lobsters packaged?
Your lobsters are packed in expanded polystyrene foam cooler (which doesn't contain any ozone depleting CFC's), with a corrugated printed box around it. We use gel ice unit(s) and seaweed. Please note that in the spring, seaweed spawns and it is not suitable for use. Also, during winter storms, it may become too hazardous to harvest the weed.

What if my package doesn't arrive in time?
This can be the heartache of heartache, but sometimes due to unforeseen circumstances packages don't arrive as ordered. If the package doesn't make it to you on time due to an act of God, most common one being weather, unfortunately there is no insurance for this and you will end up paying for your shipment, that you may or may not receive. The shipping of perishables is at the risk of the purchaser. If your package doesn't arrive due to human error, you would then receive a full refund from Federal Express. We will place all the paper work for you and credit your account in full upon receiving reimbursement from Federal Express. Federal Express has the last word in determining the out come of any claim.

What information will you need from me to place an order?
We will ask you for the recipient's name, complete street address (no PO boxes), zip code, phone number, your payment information, and product request. It is never a good idea to surprise someone with a gift of lobsters as they do require to be dealt with the day they are received. We find a gift certificate works best in this situation. That way they can be surprised by your thoughtfulness but also have the timing right so that they can enjoy their mouthwatering feast.
